Why Sometimes Marketing Doesn't Work For You?
Is marketing important in our dental practice? Does advertising work? Yes, because marketing in our dental practice is the totality of how you want your message to be delivered to the public or possible patients about the kind of brand of dental practice you run in your dental clinic. Having ADs is just one of the tools we can use to deliver the message.
If you do it right, marketing can be done properly and easily if you organize everything in your dental practice, from its processes to its protocols. Investing in your staff, equipment, dental instruments, applications, and technology goes a long way in expressing what kind of dental business you have. Yes, folks, “dental business”. The first thing we all need to do as dentists is consider our dental practice as a business; otherwise, don’t expect to reach the vision you have similar to the ones you see in developed countries or in the big corporate or private clinics here in the Philippines. If that is the kind of dental practice you want, and it’s okay with you, then, certainly, it is not a problem. Everyone of us has our own preferences for the kind of dental life we would like to have, and it is not all about money whether we dream big or not. Having said that, “business,” “money”, “advertising” and “marketing” are not antitheses or synonymous with not wanting to provide great and caring dental service to our patients. In fact, they are the tools we can properly use to make it even better. The reason why marketing doesn’t work for many dental professionals is precisely because of the twisted definition of “service” hammered into us due to the influence of our faith or culture or politics or all of the above and much, much, much more factors that really have nothing to do with affecting our way of thinking as to how we care for and properly deliver our services to our patients. In the end, marketing is very important if we want to have the kind of dental life we desire to have.
